Prise en compte des déformations dans un simulateur de biopsies de prostate

Abstract

In the particular case of the study of the prostatic cancer, the only analysis that can give a concrete result is the biopsy. Other values could help clinicians in the diagnosis but only the biopsy can validate or not the presence of a cancer. The main problem is that this procedure, guided by ultrasound images, is not easy to perform. The laboratory TIMC-IMAG of Grenoble and the hospital La Pitié - Salpt́rière of Paris proposed to implement a simulator that could be used to help clinicians, resident and expert, to learn and improve theirs skills about this procedure. The aim of this work was to be able to produce realistic images including the deformation of anatomical structures in realtime in the ultrasound images. The objective of this new work is to increase the realism of our synthetic ultrasound images.
