Evaluating the accuracy of a positioning system based on echography for prostate cancer radiotherapy.

The GMCAO group introduced in 1993 the idea of positioning a patient using registration of intra-treatment localized echography to CT data from which dosimetric planning is performed. Several companies implemented this idea in products. The aim of this project is to evaluate one of these products which drawback comes from the potential temporary displacement of the prostate due to the echographic acquisition. Using the system in the CT room should enable to quantify the resulting error.
