A. Deram. Towards a common environment for verification and validation of deformable models in medical simulation. Master's theses Université Joseph Fourier, June 2009.

Abstract

Because of the increasing interest in biomedical simulation, numerous complex deformable models have been developed to describe the mechanical behaviour of medical environments. The objective is to create a digital patient which can be used for learning, planning or during an operation. Thus, the next step is to have these models accepted by clinicians. Indeed the relevances of these models have often been criticized due to incomplete verification and validation. In this paper a generic representation of a simulation is proposed and used to achieve a first step towards a common environment for verification and validation of biomechanicals models. The final purpose is to have a software tool that allows tests and comparisons between every types of models. Validation results of a first example is shown using this environment
